Editing

Writers -- whether it's fiction, non-fiction, articles or
essays -- need a fresh pair of eyes to comb through
their manuscripts for flaws.

Let me be that fresh pair of eyes to make your
manuscript as perfect as possible.

I offer developmental and line editing services at
competitive prices.

What's the difference between developmental editing
and line editing? Good question.

Developmental editing occurs when I work on the story
itself and its elements. You may have an
underdeveloped sub-plot or a character who needs to
be deepened. That's where developmental editing
comes in. This task is far more substantial than line
editing and can even include an entire re-thinking of
plot structure and characterization.

Line editing, on the other hand, is the checking of
grammar, spelling, and punctuation. This is usually the
final review for precision before being sent off to an
agent or publisher.

If you're interested in either of these services, please
send me an email to day to discuss your editing
project.

Resumes

It used to be that a resume was something you didn't think much
about. Slap some information on a sheet of paper that details
your work experience and that was about it.

Not so anymore.

A resume and cover letter are your passports to a great job. And
the competition is so fierce that if you don't have a package that
stands out, you'll get passed over quickly.

Standing out does not mean sending in your resume packet on
multi-colored paper. It means being the best fit for the job being
offered.

A terrific resume and cover letter can have you wearing a red suit
in a sea of grey pinstripe.

For best resume results, use plenty of white space to make your
resume easy to read and use bullets to set out critical
information in bite-sized chunks.

A cover letter should follow the same method: make it short and
to the point and be sure to highlight your strongest attributes for
the specific job you seek using two or three bullet points.
